16 Oct 2008 - Upcoming Cup Games
Note down Sunday 9^th November in your diaries, as the Girls U18s play Gloucester in Round 2 of the Cup, and the Boys U18s take on Oxford Hawks in the 1st round of the Plate. Both games will be hosted at Grange Road so we hope that Olton will rally round to support these two teams in what could be two very exciting games. Times will be confirmed closer to the date.

The Girls have already shown their firepower with a confidence building thrashing of Worcester and the Boys will welcome Dan Sulway, Rupert Waters, Suki Sidhu, Tom Mallett and, hopefully, Conor Jones.

Sunday 2nd November sees the Ladies 1st XI take on Havant at Grange Road in the next round of the Ladies Cup. (It is likely that the game will follow an U18 match, Boys v Girls). This is also a date for your diaries and a reason to come to the Club for some hockey and socialising.

The Wrinkly Men, i.e. over 50s are away to Worcester in their first round game.

On 9th November the Girls U15s are in action against Towcester away, a side who like our girls had a bye to Round Two.

The Ladies 2As are playing a cup match against Reading away.

Finally, the Men’s Veterans are playing Hampton in Arden away. Details are to follow.

13 Oct 2008 - Michael Austin Service
A Service of Thanksgiving was held at 2pm on Monday 13th October at St Mary's Church, Woodstock.
A multitude of family, friends, rivals and colleagues converged on St Mary's to hear tributes to Michael from daughters, grandchildren, his hockey club and his fellow Grenadiers - all praising his loyalty, commitment and passion for everything he did - followed by an excellent buffet at the local sports club, where we continued comparing notes and trading tales of his exploits..

4 Oct 2008 - Mike Austin

In Memoriam Michael Austin 1934-2008 I regret to inform you that our friend and colleague, Mike Austin died this morning. Mike had been ill for some time and had been receiving treatment for a rare blood complaint at the Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. As Fixtures Secretary for Olton and a League Administrator for MRHA for more years than anyone can recall, he will be sadly missed by many in the hockey community. 18 Sep 2008 - More Success at Olton
The success of Olton players on and off the pitch has taken yet another leap with a pair of our already successful junior members, Emma and Nathalie James being asked to attend England trials in rounders in the U14 and U13 age groups respectively. We wish them all the best of luck in their trials, and congratulate them on their considerable success thus far.

An all-new online Membership system has been launched for the 2008-09 season.
ALL MEMBERS are requested to complete a new application form, either online or by printing a copy, completing
and posting to Club Membership Secretary Clare Rippin. Please follow this link to bring up the form.
Club members will be allocated individual membership numbers - which must be used to Login to the website
in order to see teamsheets and read match reports as the season unfolds.

15 Aug 2008 - Another Olton International
Congratulations to Guy Roberts who has been selected to play for England in the Masters (Over 40's) Four Nations Tournament in Edinburgh on August 30th and 31st. Well done Guy - and good luck in Scotland

5 Aug 2008 - Google Maps Latest
I just looked at the latest aerial pictures of Grange Road B91 1DA - showing the completed astro, with blue surround, and an almost complete housing block on our old cricket pitch.
Alas the image date must be early 2008 - 'cos there are still fir trees along the edge of the tennis courts, a portakabin bar, and an 'old' clubhouse behind closed doors.
Check maps.google.com and enter the club postcode to zoom in yourself.

16 Jul 2008 - New Season Changes
As a new season approaches, and new fixtures are loaded, so the old ones disappear and so do the match reports.
One other important website change is that the password for members has been updated.
Club officers and captains have been made aware of the new Login - so please check with one of them for a verbal update on the new access - to let you view the members-only items, including what is happening each week on the Astro ....

The Men's League Fixtures for 2008/09 have been announced by MRHA - and are now available for viewing
There is also a summary sheet of all senior Men's fixtures available as a handy keepsake.

The equivalent Ladies' Fixtures will be loaded as they become available....
